John East J-RETRO 01 Deluxe

The J-RETRO 01 DELUXE is designed to fit directly into 'jazz' style deluxe basses, without modification to the instrument in most cases. Its high quality circuit uses three stacked and one single knob. Controls and function include an active blend circuit, 3 band equaliser with bass, variable frequency mid, treble plus bright function, and a passive tone, which functions in both active and passive modes. 

A very gentle built in contour gives immediate colour without detracting from the basic sound of any bass. The active blend circuit prevents the loss associated with many passive basses where, when both pickups are up full, the signal from one pickup feeds into the other and vice versa.

However, a switch is included to allow a passive equal mix of both pickups. A second switch - basic "get-you-out-of-trouble" passive mode is included in case the battery dies in crucial circumstances, and this mode allows some useful settings too.

EASY TO FIT, NO ROUTING OR MODS TO MOST J DELUXE STYLE BASSES.

It can be used in more standard "jazz" style basses, but the jack will need to be fitted to the side of the bass, as is the case with jazz deluxe style basses.

HARDWARE OPTIONS: Chrome, Black or Gold. (Can be mixed by special request)

*  Hello John, on opening my J Deluxe I was astounded by the evident quality.  They really are very well made.  They do you credit... Post installation I collected my Fender MIM 5 string Jazz Bass this afternoon from Manson Guitars, Exeter. Wow, what an improvement. When I got it home, I plugged it into my amp and could hardly believe the tones that I heard when in “active” mode.  The bottom end can be set to “growl” or whisper, while the higher registers cut through as clean as I have ever heard.  I am truly astounded by the improvement.  It is as different as chalk and cheese.  The passive mode has its own limitations by comparison, but is a useful supplement. *  Hello Mr. East, How are you? I hope you are well. My name is Jon and not too long ago I had purchased your J-Retro Deluxe to have installed in my 2010 Fender AMD Jazz V String. I absolutely love it!! I can't say enough great things about your preamp. My bass now sounds amazing....Passive, Active or whatever....It all sounds great! Also....All of my amp's EQ settings are flat. I no longer need to add anything from my amp. Such a pleasure!  Jon - USA
